All Saints is a welcoming community space with a rich history and vibrant community. It has changed through time to meet the needs of the community and today serves as a site for meeting, celebration and culture, whilst remaining true to its foundation as a place of worship and prayer where all may find a moment’s peace. All Saints offer a wide range of heritage and community activity including our popular Listening service, monthly English Conversation classes, Little Saints for parents and young children, ‘hosted’ coffee mornings, school workshops, summer holiday activities and volunteering opportunities.
Kingston Heritage Service and All Saints Church have a long standing partnership together - particularly focused on sharing Kingstons' Saxon history.
Saxon Stories
Our two organisations regularly run joint dual site school workshops to engage pupils in Kingston's Saxon history. Kingston is traditionally known as the coronation site of as many as Seven Saxon Kings and the birthplace of England. These collaborative school sessions celebrate this important heritage. At Kingston Museum, students learn about Saxon life, discovering key artefacts in the local history collection and learning about daily life through object handing. At All Saints students explore the importance of King Athelstan in British History and take part in a costumed re-enactment of the coronation ceremony which took place on the site of All Saints over one thousand years ago.
Heritage Festival
All Saints Church is delighted to take part in The Heritage Festival celebrating the borough’s rich 1100-year history. Our church was built in the twelfth century and before this, the site was an important estate of the West Saxon Kings and host to Royal coronations. It has witnessed Kingston’s transformation from a small scattered settlement into the bustling, lively town it is today and we are proud to be part of Kingston’s fascinating heritage story.
Kingston History Centre holds copies of the parish records of All Saints Church. We also have a number of photographs of the church in our collection.
