Celebrating the strong presence of Korean culture in its borough, Kingston Museum invited a Korean art group, 4482 [SASAPARI], to showcase the captivating artworks created by seventeen Korean women artists.

In this special exhibition, 4482 [SASAPARI] presents inspirational visual narratives of Korean female artists’ experiences of settling and self-discovery in new places. Through diverse mediums – ceramics, sculptures, photographs, videos, paintings and performance art – these talented individuals invite us to explore their past and present, as well as their heritage.

Extending the representation of the ‘K-Women’ to other female artists associated with Kingston, such as pioneering Estonian sculptor Dora Gordine, the exhibition also features a selection of artworks from the collections of Kingston Museum and Dorich House Museum, Kingston University. Together with the Korean artists’ works, they demonstrate the brilliance of women artists of different generations and diverse cultures.

‘K-Women: Celebrating Korean Female Artists’ is generously supported by the Arts Council England and many Korean corporations and art organisations.

4482 [SASAPARI] is a non-profit art organisation. Since its establishment in 2007, 4482 [SASAPARI] has cherished the artistic connection between Korea and the UK. It has become a vital platform for promoting artistic exchange and showcasing contemporary Korean art.
