The book jacket for The History of Broomfield Road by Bob Phillips

This talk, led by the author Bob Phillips delves into the history past and present of Broomfield Road on the border of Tolworth and Surbiton.

Even a single street offers layers of fascination to the local historian. This study includes the histories of the St. Matthew's Parish School buildings at one end of the Broomfield Road, and the large Alexandra Recreation Ground at the other.  The talk delves into the history of the land on which these all were built, the estate of the Earls of Egmont and then of the Schwind family; as well as some more contemporary tales.

The talk will be by Bob Phillips, and is based on his book, published this month.

If you are interested in joining te talk and are not a member of The Friends of Kingston Museum and Heritage Service contact the Membership Secretary at bob.phillips@blueyonder.co.uk.

Zoom details will be distributed to all confirmed participants ahead of the event.
